NEW SOFTWARE and FUTURE RELEASES FROM LOUIS BRYANT, BLIND LOW VISION PROGRAMMER The following programs work for all note-takers from Freedom Scientific. If you use a BrailleNote, Pac Mate, or PC, then please read Win32sof.txt which will be out in this year or next year. NEW GAMES 1. The Hi-Lo cards game (hilo.bas) is now available. Try to guess whether the card the Notetaker picks from a deck is high or low. 2. The program Blmsimup.bas has been discontinued. It was a Braille Lite update simulation program. I don't know why it was actually apart of this list of releases. 3. Ttt.bas (Tic Tac Toe) is now available. Play against your Notetaker or a friend using this version. 4. Camel.bas is a game in which you are traveling on a Camel. You must make it across the desert sands, which is 200 miles. You will be chased by Indians, tripped by hidden sand Burbers, and you must drink water every so often, allow your Camel to rest, and make it to the other side of the desert sands. 5. Greetings.bas is a program in which your Note-taker will generate random funny statements. 6. Doors.bas has been discontinued. 7. Scramble.bas is a word game which scrambles a word and you must figure it out and unscramble it. 8. Maze.bas is another fun game in which you are put in a randomly chosen maze. A dragon tries to beat you to the exit. Your job is to get out of the maze before the dragon gets you. Be extra careful, the dragon is a great trickster. 9. Name.bas is a program which will speak your first and last name backwards and then alphabetize it. 10. Lguess.bas is another guessing game except you must guess a letter the Note-taker thinks of from a to z. 11. Oregon Trail (Oregon.bas) is now released. Travel 2,040 miles like people did back in 1847 from Missouri to the great territory of Oregon. When you run this program on a Braille Lite Millennium or Type Lite Millennium, it takes approximately 30 seconds to 2 minutes to upload into memory. 12. The dice game (dice.bas) is now here. Roll two or six dice and see if your score matches one of three given numbers. 13. The Name Game (NameGame.bas) has now arrived. Type in someone's first and last name and hear it spoken in several different ways. 14. Two player Hangman.bas is now available. Have someone type in a word and you try to guess it. 15. Madlib Story Writer (madlibs.bas) is here! Fill in the blanks to make up the most humorous stories. You can now save all of your stories to text files. This way, if you liked a story and want to hear it again, instead of re-running the program after exitting it, just simply open a text file that has the saved story. The files are created by "Madlibs.bas", but are opened, editted, and read using the Note-taker's FirmWare. 16. I bet I can guess the number you are thinking of. Run Mguess.bas if you are interested. 17. Hunt The Wumpus (Wumpus.bas) is now available. The Wumpus lives in a cave of twenty rooms. Try to avoid all the obstacles, and get the Wumpus with your arrows. Look out for the Super Bats and bottomless pits. Have Fun! 18. Headline.bas is a program allowing you to create crazy headlines and have them read. You supply the nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and the program creates its own sentences with your supplied word or words. Headline.txt has more information. 19. Craps (2dice.bas) another dice game is now available. Roll two dice to get your objective number. Then, roll two dice at a time until that number pops back up. If you land on three, seven, or eleven, and none of those are your point you lose. 20. Want another smart game like Tic Tac Toe.bas? Well, Word Builder (wb.bas) is another such game. You and the Note-taker take turns building a word one letter at a time. You need to have a text file with the words you want to use. Each word is to be on its own line. When typing in a letter or the hyphen (DOTS 3-6), do not terminate your input with returns or chorded keys, this game goes by hot keys. Wb.bas has all the details. 21. A Dominos simulation game is now included with this package. Ever played dominos? Well why not play it with your best friend, your Note-taker! This game is too difficult to summarize. Dominos.bas will teach you how to play a real dominos game. Dominos are also called "Bones", so when you are asked, "Want to play a game of bones?" You can say "Hell Yeah!" 22. The game "23bricks.bas" is now available for two players. Simply run 2pbricks.bas to play. The object of the game is for each player to take one, two, or three bricks. Whoever takes the last brick loses. NEW BIBLE GLOSSARY 1. A Braille file called Biblens.brl has been released. It contains a list of almost all of the names mentioned in the Bible. You should use it either as a Glossary or just to find out what a bible name means. This Grade II Braille File can be read with the Pac Mate and BrailleNote as well as the Freedom Scientific Note-taker. NEW TUTOR SOFTWARE 1. Change.bas is a program that helps you make correct change. Pretend you are a check-out person working in a store. You will be told the price of an item and given a certain amount of money. You must make correct change and give it back to the person. UPCOMIng GAME RELEASES 1. Kidnapped.bas will be released in a month. Try to find your way out of a nine story building before time runs out. 2. Clouzot.bas will be released two months from now. If you are great at figuring crime puzzles out, you will surely love this game. When it is available, I'll let you know. 3. Eamon.bas (a text adventure) will be released sometime this year. Eamon is a town in which you are walking through fighting creatures, learning new things, ETC. Another program called "adventeam.bas" will allow you to create and add to the collection of text adventures. Keep checking for these programs. 4. Stoneville Manor (Stvm.bas) will be released in next month. Travel through a town and find the king's long lost stone. 5. Adventure.bas will be released in a week. Explore a deep... dark... and misty cave, but watch out for the unexpected. 6. Atlantis (adv41.bas) will be released sometime this year. You are in the middle of the ocean, looking for the great city of Atlantis. UPCOMING COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE 1. Coming very soon is an all new Braille Notetaker Service Provider. Use it to download and share software/files, send and receive mail from your buddies, chatting with friends via a Freedom Scientific or HumanWare Notetaker or on the Web, and just have a ball! I will keep you posted as to when and where the software and modems can be found. 2. Server.mac, a macro file that allows you to host a mini-server using Braille Term might be soon available. Host your very own server using your Note-taker. I'll let you know when it is released. UPCOMING EVERYDAY UTILITIES 1. The Math Writer (mw.bas) will be released soon! Probably in March of 2005. This allows you to create math problems in vertical format, without the need of worrying about formatting your page a certain way AS YOU DO WITH A PERKINS BRAILLEWRITER. It can either do it in the standard print format, or in Nemoth Braille. LOOK FOR IT HERE ON THE NOTETAKER NETWORK! Read the "Extpr.txt" file to learn how these programs in your Braille Note-taker can be ran. Also read the document "Emtran.txt" to find out how to transfer files to your machine using WinDisk. If you want to use some other method of transferring files, then read the file "cf.txt" to learn how to use your M20/40 CompactFlash Module, or read the file "brltran.txt" to find out how to transfer files directly from one Note-taker to another using a serial cable. For information on PC programs, Pac Mate programs, and BrailleNote programs, read WIN32SOF.TXT for those devices. Win32sof.txt article will be available in April, May, or June of this year. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS So many people have contributed to my games, utilities, and have given me things to try. Don't be offended if I don't have your name mentioned. So, here are a few people I'd like to acknowledge for testing out my programs and sending in their comments, questions, and suggestions: The best man in my life, my father GOD. If it weren't for him giving me this brain and talent, I wouldn't be doing this today! He also tests out my software very frequently, and has submitted his comments and suggestions. Jesus Galvez; He tested out my software on the Braille Lite Two Thousand as well as the PC. Emily Premel; A long-time friend of mine and an excellent Braillest at Hickory Elementary.
